Men's ring size chart

US 7 to 15 with the matching UK letter, EU/ISO number and the inside measurements in millimetres. The average men's ring size is US 10 — about 19.8 mm across the inside — but the band width matters almost as much as the number, so check both.

There is no separate men's scale — men's rings simply sit at the top of the same one. What is different is the width of the band, which is handled below the table.

The adjustment most charts skip

A wide band wears tighter at the same number

2–4 mmNo change

Classic slim band. Size it exactly as measured.

5–8 mm+ ½ size

The most common men’s width. Half a size covers it.

9 mm and up+ 1 size

Heavy signet and statement bands. A full size.

Men's bands are wider than women's far more often, which is why a men's ring bought straight off a chart so often arrives too tight. Thering size calculator measures the band on the same calibrated stage as the ring and folds the allowance into the result, rather than asking you to pick a width from a dropdown and hope.

Questions

Men's ring sizing, answered

What is the average men's ring size?

US 10, with US 8 to 12 covering the large majority of men. That corresponds to an inside diameter of about 19.8 mm and an inside circumference of about 62.1 mm.

How do I measure my partner's ring size without them knowing?

Borrow a ring he already wears on the right finger and measure its inside diameter — either against the on-screen sizer or with a caliper. Pressing the ring into a bar of soap and measuring the impression works too. Do not measure a ring from a different finger: an index finger is typically a full size larger than a ring finger.

Do wide bands need a larger size?

Yes. A wide band contacts more of the finger and wears tighter at the same nominal size. Add half a size from about 5 mm of width and a full size from about 9 mm — and men’s bands are commonly 6 to 10 mm, so this is the single most-missed adjustment in men’s sizing.

Are tungsten and ceramic rings sized differently?

They are sized on the same scale, but they cannot be resized afterwards — the material is too hard to stretch or cut cleanly. Measure twice before ordering one, and prefer a retailer with a free exchange.

Should a man size up or down between sizes?

Up. Men’s knuckles are usually more pronounced than the base of the finger, and a comfort-fit interior makes a ring feel slightly looser than a flat one at the same size. A ring that will not clear the knuckle cannot be worn at all.

What UK letter is a US 10?

A US 10 is a UK T, and an EU/ISO 62. The table above lists the letter for every half size from US 7 upward.
